About the Arts Education Programme at Španski borci
Contemporary Dance
We have been developing our arts education programme for five seasons, with a special focus on presenting contemporary dance. Contemporary dance represents an important field within contemporary artistic creation, yet it often remains outside school curricula, partly due to the lack of teaching resources—resources that are otherwise widely available in more traditional art forms such as theatre, opera, and ballet.
With this programme we aim to bridge this gap and introduce contemporary dance to young audiences in a fresh and engaging way. We present high-quality productions created by leading contemporary dance artists, some of which have already been presented on prestigious European stages. At the same time, we aim to provide teachers with quality educational activities and teaching materials that support preparation before the performance and reflection afterwards.
Music
Dance is inseparably connected to music, and music is a constant presence that can play an important role in children’s development from an early age. In collaboration with Zavod Sploh, we therefore also offer an original and creative music education programme.
The programme offers an alternative both to the commercialization of simple entertainment music and to the somewhat rigid teaching of exclusively classical repertoire. By encouraging children and young people to actively perceive and appreciate music, it responds to today’s overwhelming presence of commercial music.
Multimedia Performances
Our arts education programme also includes original combinations of puppet theatre, music concerts, and comic illustration, through which children and young audiences can experience complex multimedia performances.
Individual Approach, Educational Materials, and Additional Activities
We offer an individual approach and can design programmes tailored specifically to your group. Performances and concerts can be combined with recommended additional activities and content—workshops, discussions with the artists, backstage tours, and more.
Most of our programme is accompanied by free educational materials, adapted to the age group of the audience. These materials support meaningful activities both before and after attending a performance.
Today, more than ever, it is important to help children and young people navigate the abundance of entertainment and cultural content available to them, guiding them towards high-quality cultural experiences and encouraging the development of their critical thinking.
With this in mind, we have created the present arts education programme at Španski borci, which can meaningfully enrich your teaching programmes and curricula.
