Moste Open 2026: The Hood in Full Swing

#season opening

At the end of summer, Moste gets moving. Full throttle!

Once again, we step beyond the threshold of Španski Borci and bring the public space of the Cultural Quarter to life with street dance, dance to music and dance in nature. Dance you already know, and dance you swear you don’t know how to do. Plus fair, food, free goulash, making, exchanging, learning and a community with too much energy to stay at home.

We’re very happy that Koala Voice is returning to the capital with a concert at Moste Open. Italian dancer and choreographer Pablo Girolami will make his outdoor premiere with a Rilke DJ set by Zaloška, while En–Knap Group and DSPS will perform the group choreography Glorious Epic Wet, created in collaboration with Greek choreographer Sofia Mavragani.

Moste Open was launched nine years ago as a meeting point for organisations, associations, schools and individuals who help create the lively cultural pulse of Moste. Today, it is a space for meeting, connecting and exchanging, where culture, education, movement, music and community care come together. On this day, Španski Borci Cultural Centre and Mladinska Postaja Moste step beyond their own thresholds – contemporary dance, performing arts and music spill into public space. They are joined by programme partners, as well as many organisations from the neighbourhood.

PROGRAMME

20:30
Koala Voice
#music

We last saw them in Ljubljana at Ortofest and Kongresni trg, after which they spent the summer playing venues and festivals across Slovenia. We are very happy to welcome them back to the capital – this time to Moste Open.

After 15 years of continuously making music and five studio albums, they will bring an energetic live show to the festival, providing the musical highlight of the day. Alongside their vibrant stage presence and infectious guitar riffs, they will perform songs from their latest album Auf Wiedersehen as well as well-loved favourites such as Go Disco Go, Wild Dancer, Sierra, Vede Premikanja, Ker tu je vse tako lepo, Vertigo, Spaghettification, Vukovi and many more. Expect a genre mix of indie rock, punk-pop and disco – and perhaps even a brand-new song or two.

20:10
Tomaž Grom / Zavod Sploh
#music

For Tomaž Grom, composer, double bassist and artistic director of Zavod Sploh, sound is not simply something we listen to – it is material, action and event. His solo performances are therefore not conventional concerts, but live explorations of sound.

19:30
Sofia Mavragani, En–Knap Group & DSPS: Glorious Epic Wet
#danceinpublicspace

Greek choreographer Sofia Mavragani’s performance is a group choreography that turns heroism on its head. Instead of a solitary hero, there is a collective: bodies searching for balance, supporting one another, slipping, falling and getting back up again. Out in the open and among people, an unpredictable dancing organism emerges – one in which no one can do it all alone.

The En–Knap and DSPS coproduction was created within Moving Balkans, a platform dedicated to the development and promotion of contemporary dance in the Balkan region. For this occasion, Sofia Mavragani expanded her original choreography, conceived as a duet, into a group formation: five dancers from En–Knap Group joined five dancers selected through DSPS, working together with the artistic team to create a new, expanded version of the work. The choreography is designed to adapt to different spaces – from the stage to public space – responding each time to the architecture, environment and people around it.

18:30
Pablo Girolami: Rilke Project – Angel's Orders
#danceinpublicspace

A Rilke DJ set by Zaloška. Italian dancer and choreographer Pablo Girolami brings his Rilke Project: “Angels’ Orders” to Moste Open for its premiere, following its selection by the Pan-Adria network for the 2026/27 season. Girolami takes Rilke’s First Elegy and translates it into movement, breath, vibration and rhythm rather than words.

Pan-Adria is a very unique regional contemporary dance network initiated by En–Knap, bringing together seven dance institutions from Croatia, Slovenia and Italy. As the only network of its kind in the region, it provides selected dance artists with comprehensive support in the development and production of new works, while creating opportunities for collaboration and circulation across the region.
